So, I was off work yesterday and today.

I seem to feel fine when I'm sitting still, but standing up for more than a minute or so leads to dizziness, and more than three minutes leads to hot and cold sweats and shivering.

Any ideas?

Some kind of inner ear infection, with labyrinthitis as a side-effect?

+1 for the inner ear infection. Its affecting balance, plus feverish effects.

Go see doctor.

I had weird dizzy spells etc when I had pneumonia.
Might actually be something that requires antibiotics - have you seen a GP?

it's the first stage of infection - any minute now you will start full blown shambling - then come the cravings for tasty, tasty braaaaaaaains......

If it's been going on for more than a couple of days it's worth phoning a doctor out of hours to see what they say.

Don't stand for more than a minute then? :-) (That's what you get for asking the Internet for medical advice.)

It sounds like classic about-to-faint symptoms ('syncope prodrome'). There's loads of stuff that could be causing it, from the trivial to the very serious, with the former far more likely. Since it's gone on for more than 48 hours, I'd very strongly advise seeing a GP at your earliest convenience.

What's your blood pressure like? Do you occasionally "see stars"?
Otherwise, +1 for inner ear infection.
Get well soon!
