Here is the nerdiest collection of nerddom that you'll likely ever see. In which people relate, nay compete over, their nerdiest ever moments.

So, here's mine:
When I was 13-ish (give or take - it was a while back, so the details are fuzzy in my brain) I was obsessed by Heinlein. My parents had a load of his books, and I set about filling in the gaps in their collection. I must have read most of them at least three times.

One of my brothers noticed this, and I told them that I'd read them so much that I could identify any of them from minor details. I bet that given a couple of sentences, with no character names, I could tell them which book it was.

So they grabbed a book and tried me. And I got it. And another. I got that too. And they went through seven books before giving up.

My name is Andrew Ducker, and I was a complete Heinlein Nerd :->

Was? Sorry but I still am.
I confess that I am such an obsessive about The Zombie Hunters web comic (www.thezombiehunters.com) that I set up a PayPal account specifically in order to buy badges in support of it.
I am Opus Fluke, ARC Support Staff and Official Forum Crazy.

I used to know the Hitchhikers Guide so well I could fill in dialogue just before the actor said the line - and that was adapting from the books to the series :)

"Dad was busy unclamping their couches and moving them to what was the floor, now that the ship was spinning. He stopped when I came in and we sat around and talked. I told him about Captain's mast. He nodded."

Name that book in one !

I like the fact you feel you need to confess? Have any of us ever considered that you're not a nerd or a geek?

When Buffy was at its peak, broadband was in its infancy so not many people had it. I had a group of friends and we used to download episodes from usenet, then burn them to VCD and share them via post. We used to each make a copy and post it onto 2 or 3 other people. At that time, I used to watch every episode at least 5-6 times and by the end of about series 4, could recite every single line.

Someone bought me the Buffy quizbook for Christmas and I recall one night people decided to ask me questions and I knew the answers to every single one, even the really obscure stuff. I was a complete Buffy nerd.

Oh! Heinlein! I read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress when I was a teenager (13? 14?) and meant to read more, then never did.

Wait, I was mailed a copy of The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by someone I met on IRC (#dl-local? #gb? I forget) trying to explain his non-monogomous relationship. I swear I have a nerdiest moment but like f*ck I can remember them. I can name any bird in the Collin's guide from the first few lines of the description, but I don't think that's quite what you mean!

What has long been lauded as my nerdiest moment came in college, when some friends and I were walking back to the dorms from being in town. There was an empty parking lot we had to walk by, and as they started to take the sidewalk around it I quickly calculated in my head and then exclaimed "Let's take the hypotenuse, guys, it's quicker!" I still don't think they've forgotten to make fun of me for that.

There is a currently growing thread on SA where people detail just how nerdy they are.

I am a fucking jock compared to some.

I don't have a specific incident but since I read alot that most people don't bother with I find myself giving people information about very obscure things at times and get that "you're strange" look in return.
This happens several times a month at least.
Can't remember books in that detail (until I unintentionally start to reread them).
I have read all of Heinlein, Asimov, E.E Doc and many other authors.
Caution: If you decide to read all of Asimovs work it could take a very long time (about 500 books) - I remember him admitting he was never very far from his typewriter, so wrote every day for decades (and he wrote pretty fast). Some of his science books are very good.
