A number of the commenters demand the appointed Lords be replaced by an elected chamber. Bad idea. You've already got an elected chamber, and see how well that works. A freely-chosen PM whom nobody likes. Brilliant. So long as the Lords act as a revising chamber only, and can't override the determined judgment of the Commons, there's nothing wrong with an appointed chamber, and maybe they can come up with ideas that a bunch of blow-dried media-friendly politicians can't.
