delicious is just a bookmarking website. You see something you'd like to keep track of, you bookmark it (either via the delicious website, or one of a variety of popup tools). When you make a bookmark you add some 'tags' to it - single words (or phrases with underscores) which describe the bookmark.

If you look at http://del.icio.us/AndrewDucker you'll see a few links. Look at the Greedo one - you'll notice that it's tagged with "Star_Wars" "Greedo" and "funny". If you look over on the right hand side you'll see those tags (and the other ones I've used so far) all with a '1' next to them, as each tag has been used once.

Click on 'funny' and you'll see that only the Greedo link appears, it being the only link I have tagged with 'funny'. You'll now see on the right hand side a link saying "funny for all users" - clicking on that will show you all recent links from _anyone_ that have been tagged 'funny'.

You can also set that up as a RSS feed. Look at the bottom and you'll see a small orange rectangle saying RSS. The file that points to can be read by LJ (or any other aggregator) and read at your own convenience.

I've done so (as an example) and you can find the results at deliciousfunny.

Well, by that point, I'd got it back....

Why disable anonymous posting? I've never seen the point, meself. If someone wants to anonymously post "Stephen, you are a " in my journal, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

When they made it incredibly easy to get an account I decided I was fed up with anonymous idiots.

I'd prefer people to at least need to spend the 15 seconds necessary to create a journal.

So far it's only been a problem during this outage, the rest of the time it's kept out the occasional troll I used to get.
