2. Suggesting we delete photos is unrealistic as that wont obviously stop water use.
Not uploading them to the cloud might save water, but suggesting that is just as unrealistic.

However, if apps browse the pictures inefficiently having more pictures stored might require more electricity, heat and water.

Maybe a silly final suggestion is deliberate. It makes people look at and talk about the article :-)

but "Turn off the taps when brushing teeth or shaving." of my DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN YES,YES, YES!!!! I do this automatically. It drives me absolutely insane when others don't.

2. "VC's AI systems crawling your messages and photos use a lot of water" is not a me problem, it's a problem that can be addressed with suitable, human-centered, law and regulation.

I remember having to practise water conservation in my childhood. Among other things we had our showers standing in a plastic basin and used it to fill the toilet cisterns.
