What are the concrete things to the right?

Barriers to stop German vessels from going up that bit of the Forth, I believe.

There are also a bunch of old WWII emplacements on the island.

Is it a stretchy wrap or a woven one? If it's stretchy, you'll want to switch to a woven wrap or a different carrier as the baby gets heavy. Stretchy wraps aren't so safe for back carries.

I've checked with Jane and it's strtchy, but less so than the one that came with the baby box (I'd forgotten that we bought a new one).

We won't be doing a back carry until he's tall enough to see over the top of my head in any case, which won't be for a while, and will probably be in a rucksack-style carrier.

I remember the babywearing days. Still have my woven wrap, though the mei-tai and the ring sling are both now gone.

When the weather gets cold, and you've got the baby snuggled under a kindercoat (or whatever's available now), they're like little spaceheaters.

They are terribly warm and snuggly.
