"One account. All of Google." — How Google let its customers down

I was caught by this. I set up a domain for my family, and it's what we've all used for our email addresses for ages. When "Google Apps for Domains" came along, I migrated us on to it.

And now I find that I can't have a YouTube family account. Can't have a Google Play Music family account. Can't have a bunch of other services, because Google created multiple types of accounts, and never put the effort in to make them work seamlessly.

This isn't exactly the same, but it reminds me of when I tried to set up my new (first) Android phone a few months ago and discovered that somehow I had ended up with two Outlook accounts with the same address. This thread at Hacker News didn't really help, but it was enlightening.

Ultimately, I had to screenshot the failure process step-by-step to get Support to understand the problem and provide useful troubleshooting advice.

Shit, I might have to actually finish The Wheel of Time series. It got rough around book 8 or 9 where there's this huuuuuge long section that's all in flashback, with loads of characters who had similar names and whom I didn't give a crap about. I skimmed past that and that set bad habits in and I started skimming too much after that too.

Watch the TV series first and then you can go back to the book and see how it was supposed to be :-)

It does at any rate now have an ending. A reasonably satisfying ending that ties up most loose ends and finishes the main story. But maybe the TV will manage it with less extraneous waffling, if you don't like that kind of thing.
