Date: 2015-08-03 04:14 pm (UTC)A 2nd chamber that's distinctly different to the primary chamber (the Australian Senate's not a bad model, same for the Indian Senate, which is similar to the German Bundesrat) and you have people not beholden to the Govt of the day able to really look at legislation properly.
Too many Commons votes are partisan for/against things, we count "rebels" as important because they're rare, etc. Unicameralism's not a good model for large population countries.
