So, iOS 7

Am I missing something exciting? Is there anything that the new iPhone OS can do that you can't already do with Android?

I took a look through the features and nothing there seemed at all novel. AirDrop looks kinda neat, but that's about as good as it got.

Anyone out there excited by it?

AirDrop looks like Bluetooth to me, been using that to swap stuff for years.

Everything I can see on that page is something I either don't want or I've got on my Symbian (which gets replaced at the end of the month with an Android, still not decided which).

If their shiny new feature of shinyness is something Symbian phones have been doing for years, then colour me distinctly unimpressed.

I don't have lots of money, my free-with-contract option is likely to be at the S3 pricepoint, I'm looking at the S3 mini but can be persuaded for other things, going into Bradford tomorrow to have a poke at things in the Orange store.

Is it a bit off that my first criteria is fitting in pocket, the second is that it runs the app that integrates with the Facebook MMO I've been playing for the last 18 months?

I'll get a good loyalty deal so I'm looking at a £15 a month contract plus possible bolt on of extra bandwidth, I'll see about a Nexus-annoyingly Orange can't tell me what I could get until the contract is renewable, so we're guessing at eligibility.

One of the things that appeals about the Galaxy range is Jennie has a Note2, so compatibility is useful.

Yep. Unimpressed with proposed new iOS features.

I still want to be able to remove newsstand (luckily, i had it folderized before they 'fixed' (disabled) being able to folderize it) and passbook. Heck, there's another 3 or 4 undeleteable standard install apps I'd kill off in an instant.

Moving to another platform wouldn't be too hard but my user experience with iOS is still more positive than negative.

We have, also, inadvertently ended up with a fairly large estate of devices and DRM-ridden content (not a problem at the moment) which means we're likely to stay iOS for the moment. The interoperability of our devices, accounts and content through the Apple TV is a big hook.
