Sometimes I feel sorry for Republicans
Mar. 6th, 2012 09:27 pmBecause, y'know, some of them might want to vote for people that are just a little to the right of the centre* and they get a choice between various levels of crazy and evil.

(Via The Washington Post and a flocked post)

(via someone on FB who I can't find now)
And you have to wonder if the Republican Party has just given up on appealing to anyone outside of their crazy fringe. Is this them handing off power for the next decade like the Conservatives did in the late 90s?
Do _any_ of these people have a chance at beating Obama?
*Right of the US Centre, obviously. Waaaaaay off to the right of Western Europe.

Date: 2012-03-06 09:53 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, enough US conservatives who'd like to vote for someone a little bit to the right of center (but who don't have that option) seem to vote for one of the Radical Knuckleheads that the over-all results are about 50/50 between the two major parties -- and I have to live under that kind of a Government.
Mind you, the British seem to be almost as unfortunate as the Americans and the Israelis in their selection of Governmental Officials & the policies they put into operation.

I’m sure there are view Conservatives who would like to change this principle but they tend to get shouted down if they suggest it

Date: 2012-03-06 10:11 pm (UTC)Sadly true, but much of this is due to both candidates who are fairly good at lying to appear to people who aren't crazed reactionary zealots, and a party that is both exceedingly well funded and impressively organized. So far, none of this is true - the Republican candidates are spending all of their time and money in vicious attacks on one another, and none of them are all that good at appealing to anyone who isn't a reactionary fanatic. 6 months ago, I was worried about the upcoming election, now I'm really not.

Date: 2012-03-07 05:42 am (UTC)Obama must be thankful that a) the Republicans are chewing each other apart and by the general election whomever is running against him will be vulnerable and b) the American people see Republicans as obstructionist and dogmatic, refusing to compromise and scarily willing to take everyone down with them.
