Date: 2011-01-12 12:01 pm (UTC)I can see the hypocrisy on Google's part, but I'm glad they're doing it, because otherwise it just leaves Firefox supporting patent-free web standards.
Apple, of course, could support WebVM tomorrow if it wanted to in Safari. I dunno what the performance would be like for software decoding on the iPhone, but I suspect that h.264 will be around for a while, certainly long enough for them to get hardware decoding into it.
