Don't know what cilantro is, but for me, conversation view in gmail is the Big Thing that suddenly made email Suck Less.

Star both of them. They show as expanded when you go to the thread.

Also, if you forward them and change the subject, they fork off.

When do you have 67 emails in a thread? Mailing lists? I hate mailing lists; they're completely unusable and antiquated.

I find that starring the relevant ones works for me too.

For me too.

I think cilantro is American for coriander. I'm not keen on the stuff.

Specifically, it's coriander leaf. The seeds are still referred to as coriander.

I don't know, it's still not as good what some threaded email clients or newsgroups were doing 10 years ago. Yes, gmail groups together connected messages, but that's all it does. Email is like a tree, with branches; gmail flattens all those the branches together into one disorganised bundle, at best ordered by date.

Labels instead of folders on the other hand, I like.

The fact that Lucas is going to release Phantom Menace first is totally gay.

Re: Star Wars news...

The shotgun has been welded to a micrometer-accuracy positioning rig and adjusted using laser interferometry, the fish nailed to the bottom of the barrel have been stunned into immobility using copious quantities of Rotenone, the trigger mechanism has been polished and tweaked until a mere thought would set it off and you think, "Why bother?" and walk away.

To mix metaphors, the wet spot under the necrophiliac bestiality crime scene dried up a long time ago. Just walk away.

(But Han shot first, remember!)

'This is why using "gay" to mean "bad" is an awful thing to do.'

Where does that follow in the story...?

Imagine if "Irish" was used to mean "stupid".

Yes, just imagine... oh, wait...

Oh! Fine - that's your opinion and not a conclusion of the article. :p

I don't agree, but understand why you feel that.

I think possible Andy's commenting on what he sees as the culture that allows these kids to feel this way. If 'gay' and 'crap'/'stupid' weren't still pretty much synonymous to most teenagers then we might be a little further along the path to acceptance and a detachment of stigma from the word 'gay' and the state of being so.

Oh yeah - I get that, and understand that, and disagree with that, BUT I thought there was something specific in the article (or some connected to it that I'd missed) about the connection.

... in 147 out of 150 of the biggest cities in the U.S., the median full-time salaries of young women are 8% higher than those of the guys in their peer group. In two cities, Atlanta and Memphis, those women are making about 20% more.

Not sure about Memphis, but my understanding is that Atlanta has a significant black population. US has all those silly drug laws in place that target black males. Making 20% more than an ex-con isn't hard.

(Hispanic and black women are twice as likely to graduate from college as their male peers.)

Exactly.
