I'd like to see the feminist version of that...

I wasn't using it to mean female oriented. I was using it to mean "a version where women are not equated with a disposable product for men to use and throw away".

I used to like Guinness...

?

There was one woman being "shared", along with the bottle of beer, between three men...

Even so, woman = product to be shared.

I'm with you. This advert is dreadfully mysognistic. I don't care that there are multiple interpretations possible. The main interpretation is pretty damned clear to me.

We're not alone, as the comments on my entry about this show. It's not a genuine advert, though, which is some small comfort.

Yeah I was pretty sure it couldn't be a real Guinness advert, because:

1) Guiness don't want you to share. They want everyone to get their own pint/bottle. Considering that, maybe a masturbation advert would have been more appropriate?

2) Guinness adverts tend to shove the marketing line or sentiment that "It's worth the wait". The only way this advert would've worked with that is if the white "head" on the beer was, well, white head from the participants.

In both Guinness marketing and general adverting, this wannabe advert is full of epic fail. It's just misogyny.

Have to agree. I didn't like the ad either. Glad it's not a real Guinness advert because I would quit drinking it over that.

How do you know it is a woman?

It's either a woman or a man who's taken a LOT of hormone treatments. You don't see many men shaped like that.

That ad was terribly offensive! The idea of getting a bottle of stout and then shaking it like that...

I kept hoping the camera would pull back to reveal that she was getting a really fine leg massage that was causing her to move like that. *sigh* Wishful thinking on my part, I suppose.

I didn't think it was offensive - I think my radar's broken. It just didn't have a good enough punchline and wasn't very Guiness-like.

She was having a nice time by the looks of it. Good for her.

Wow, I'm surprised by some other people's comments - who says *she's* being used/shared/disposed of? That said, who says she's not the instigator, and LOVING it? Then again, maybe it's not a woman....slim bloke with a JLo ass?

FWIW, I have nothing against multiple person sexual experiences, but the intentionally porn-style music and "share one with a friend" strapline made it fairly clear what the attitude to women was.

Or maybe I've just seen too much crap porn...
