I was the Japanese version of Ring several months ago - it was fantastic, and very scary. This review indicates that the US version is much the same. I'm still trying to decide if I want to put myself through it...

Stick with the original. Watching a direct remake would force you to compare it to the original while you're watching it and might take you out of the film. The only thing that'd bring me to the U.S one is seeing what they did with Sadakos video. I've heard it's interesting. :)

The US version of The Ring is awesome. Is there a way I can secure a copy (preferably legit and in NTSC/all-region) of the Japanese version?

Meanwhile, I'm not sure when and if I'll go to sleep tonight. o_o
