The LibDems take a strong stand against tax cuts and a strong one in favour of public services: they would make long-term residential care for the elderly free across the UK, and scrap university tuition fees. They are in favour of a ban on smoking in public places, but would relax laws on cannabis. They propose to change vehicle taxation to be based on usage rather than ownership.

Still, it's more successfull than the dollar, making imports from there nice and cheap.

Date: 2005-04-14 09:12 am (UTC)Happened with decimalisation over here. Not really the government's actual action, but that of the companies selling the things. Of course the gov could have made efforts to prevent/crackdown on this, I suppose, but how exactly, would they enforce it?
And as a good capitalist, shouldn't you approve of companies maximising profits for their shareholders ? :-)
I think that, like my husband, you may actually be a feudalist masquerading as a Conservative :-)
