1. That last question: will the voters care?

That's the big one, isn't it? Pro-democracy people can explain what's wrong with electing a Putinist stooge until they're blue-faced, and it might not matter if a large enough chunk of voters decide that the evil is what they want.

2. What's most dismaying is the lack of provision for women who don't want to be stuck in gender roles. I wonder how many women out there don't like to cook, for instance. My mother didn't (but she did it anyway, because gender roles). My wife doesn't either (so I do it, which suits us fine - she takes on the traditional male role of washing up, which I'm not good at). Her mother didn't either (and since her father had a job where he was either away from home or not working, when he was home he did it).

But those men *want* the women to have traditional gender roles. They don't care if the women don't want to cook - *they* want the women to cook.
