If you like electronic music _at all_ then you need to go here to Ishkur's Electronic Music Guide.

I've been back here on numerous occasions, just wandering the different routes around the 'map' and finding new things to interest myself.  My favourite genre is definitely "Industrial Rock" (filed in the second category, halfway across the screen, top third), but I can easily slip into Psytekk, Goan Trance or the odder ends of Techno.

Go, listen to the samples, see what you like - report back.

i'm gonna send you something one of these days, whether you want it or not and whether you like it or not. if i ever get around to it. the address on your user info page is still accurate, yes?

lessee, i like... psytekk... booty trance (cuz that one's a remake of one of my fave songs)... NRG.. hard acid trance... brit house is ok... acid house... rave... hardstyle, sorta... new beat's ok i guess...
although most of them do tend to get a bit sickening after a while. too much looping?

well, on some it's hard to tell, because the actual songs are often that way the whole way thru. that's one of the things that may make me like a song or not - if the whole song is a certain way, I may not like it, but if it changes from one way to another and back again, etc, I might find it wonderful. or if the beat doesn't change but the vocals, do, it might be okay. other times, having it be repetetive the way thru, depending on what it is, might be ok. it very much depends. Some of those Industrial Rock songs have been among my faves too. On the Rammstein one, I like it even more because of the way the lyrics are done.

Didn't I tell you about this ages ago?

Ten minutes wandering reveals that I like pretty much everything within three steps of Industrial Rock, and that there's some pretty cool stuff begging to be discovered in the region of "Darkcore" (filed under "Jungle").

I'm going to be wandering around that site for WEEKS.

Well, how about that. I've been listening to various di.fm channels for ages, and never knew about that guide. I started listening to electronic music around 92-93, so I've heard a lot of the styles listed there evolving over the years. Handy to be able to name and organise them, though.
