It's things like this that mean I can't take straightforward action movies/comics seriously any more.  Not that they aren't fun, but being able to see the tropes just means I can't suspend my disbelief for more than 16 minutes at a time.

I can see the tropes, too. Little bastards. There's something knowing and sarcastic in their eyes, like at some hidden signal they'll all gang up in crowds and pounce, like in "the Birds".
