Well, that's my father brought back to life, the vizier slain and the princess saved.  I think I win.

(Just finished Prince of Persia : the sands of time - the first game I've finished since Doom.  The original Doom)

Congrats! I adored the original PoP, but never finished it. I got within a gnat's crotchet of doing so but was unable to master one of the final leaps and eventually gave up in a huff.

Sands of Time is _well_ worth grabbing a copy of. It's impressively smooth and possibly the most sculptured game I've played in a long time.

I've been wondering about getting PoP:SoT - IIRC Tesco is doing the PS2 version in a 2 for £30 offer... hmmm.

Fantastic game. Apart from the combat. The endless, endless combat. The sequel's looking very promising.

I quite liked the combat - it was tactical - the main problems I encountered were allowing myself to be surrounded, so manouvering myself so that I had freedom of action was quit fun.

I enjoyed the combat at first. However it didn't really evolve as the game went on. You didn't get new moves, just more and more enemies. I didn't finish it. I got up to a battle that I kept messing up and never played it again.

BTW, you said you haven't finished a game since Doom... not even Half Life? (Not that I did but that was due to a bug).

Got to Xen and got very fed up...

The new enemies required different tactics - things that worked against the bath-maidens didn't work against the blue spear guys, and the big-sword guys had attacks that worked even better against you.
