1) Set up a long process to run.
2) Leave Windows Update Running.
3) Windows Update downloads a patch that requires a restart.
4) You tell it to restart later.
5) It repeatedly asks you if it can restart. Each time you say 'later'.
6) Pop to the toilet.
7) Machine restarts, killing the process you were running.

How complicated is it for it to just _not_ restart?  Or to have a "not for X minutes" option?

Yeah, but update is known for this, and you shouldn't really be running processes when installing anything, least of all OS patches.

There's a version of Windows that isn't a hack? (With appologies to many a good hack.)
