Maybe it's just because I haven't been reading his blog for a while now and don't know what Mirror Mask is.

If understand it correctly, Mirrormask is a theatrical movie, written by Gaiman and with visuals by Dave "Sandman covers" McKean. And I don't know exactly what she's holding either, but it looks like some kind of lute or harp.
