I'm going to have to wait a month to get started.

Professional c# revision 3. I checked out version 2 in the bookshop and it seems to have everything I need. Reviews generally seem good.

I had an earlier introduction to c# book which was great for getting me started but I now need something that goes into details of all of the standard classes - c# as a langage is actually very simple - it's the standard framework that gives it it's power.

Since I'm coming at it from a C++ background, I'd like a book that tells me what I need to know about rather than an introduction to if statements.

A good book about the framework would be good too.

I'll get the name of my previous book when I go back up and let you know if the new one covers the basics.

The previous book covered things like all the basics, including how best to use the IDE and suchlike. Also, how to deal with events and other things which are different from C++. I think you could probably skip through the entire thing in 5-6 hours if you have extensive c++ experience.
