Balance of Power

The more powerful the entity, the more constraints must be placed upon it in order to prevent misuse of that power.

This applies to any powerful entity, from people to governments to corporations.  A small company might be allowed to form exclusive contracts with another small company, because neither of them wields excessive power over another.  However, if Microsoft decides to do likewise it can effectively force the smaller company to do whatever it wants.

Now, if I an only find some way of measuring the power of an entity...
