If you are any kind of geek then you want one of these.

(quicktime file, quite large)

As long as I don't have to see that video again. I wish they'd gotten a marketing guy to look at it first.

But yes, cool tech.

Hehe, yeah. My favorite part has to be where the woman gets out of her car and takes a picture with what should be a digital camera, yet they put in a shutter sound.

It also kind of defeats the whole claim of "it's the only computer you need" when they go to all that trouble of showing how you can connect it to your real computer.

So yeah, concurrence here.

Hm. I assumed the docking station was in turn connected to a real computer, but I guess it was just on the same desk as one. But this is advertising, where juxtaposition is everything. The voiceover was making it relatively clear that the docking station could be hooked up to peripherals such as a printer, but the point still stands for me. Maybe they are trying to be non-threatening with that particular image: "Don't worry: you don't have to give up that cool plasma screen monitor! You can still hang with your squash club! You won't turn gay!"

She might be using a Sony DSC-P52 CyberShot. Those make a shutter sound. I imagine the P32 and P72 do, too.

I did a quick search for those three and they look nothing like the model in the ad. That one was way bigger and blacker. It could have a been a film camera and then the error would be plugging it into the minicomputer on offer. Of course, you know they have to put in a sound of some sort because the soundtrack is silence and background music otherwise.

It's just a hobby of mine, really. I like to find continuity errors.

I just checked my dad's Olympus digital camera, and it does so, too. I imagine there's also a comfort level with hearing a shutter-click when you press the snap button.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, well, that casts some light on it all. I suppose it didn't occur to me that someone taking a secret picture of you could be a problem. But hey! Back to the silly things I waste MY time worrying about. :)

Hey, it's a fun hobby. ^_^ I do it, too.

Hmm, I kinda want one, but I suspect I would prefer a real laptop. It looks like it would be too fiddly to use for any extended period.

I want that one-door BMW they show in the video. You hardly ever see one of those mobile and unrusted anymore.
