Date: 2003-11-10 07:04 pm (UTC)First off I would answer 'nobody'.
But then, I suppose it depends on which aspect of my life one was thinking about. Noone gives permission on the overall "way of life", but there are certain things like traffic rules... the dress code at work... Which aren't so much about permission but about the stuff left over when the non-permitted things are identified. In which case it's maybe which rules I choose to go along with and which not, so maybe it is myself giving myself permission. Although I don't really do that; I just do what I choose to do. And the few times when I tell myself not to do something, I'm likely to do it anyway, so what is that called?
And then there are the things one does because society permits or even expects it, which I might not do otherwise. Like driving a car.
Ah. My "way of life" is too boring for anyone to bother giving permission for it.
Short little answer boxes. Pthooey.
