I don't think those polls show that people back restricting trial by jury but not for themselves.

1. You might have personal preferences but acknowledge that having them implemented as general policy would be net negative, and accept them not being met as a consequence.


2. You might reasonably believe that the chance of you facing criminal trial is negligible, and therefore not consider your preferences relevant.
