Life with two kids: No memory to speak of

It's amazing that my mood depends so much on what my children remember to bring home from school.

(Yesterday, down two bus passes and a backpack, misery.
Today, all of their belongings, relief!)

Maintaining the same number of mitts, boots, etc is my daily struggle. Notwithstanding that each of these items are very much cloned across the daycare. For example, we had two left boots if the same brand and style. Blaire, my little ones classmate had the other set.

Sophia isn't too bad, thankfully. Her losing her bus pass was unusual. Gideon, on the other hand, has been told that he can have nice gloves if he can manage to not lose his for a whole week. I don't anticipate that happening any time soon.

Gosh, that sounds complicated. I never had to manage bus passes as a kid.

I take them in on the bus and Jane brings them home on the bus, so they have to be in charge of the passes during the day. Mostly they go safely into their lunch boxes during the day, but Something Happened on Thursday.

Hmm. Some rucksacks have wee pockets for phones, cards, keys etc. But probably same issue of putting them back. Do they have to show/bleep the passes on the bus? Do they do that themselves? If so, taking the pass out and putting it right back in a safe but handy place in a bag would stand a chance of making it a routine? Yes, it might mean them faffing about when getting on the bus. But getting efficient about these sorts of daily life things is a skill to learn...

Yeah, it definitely works better when I remember to make them put their passes straight into their backpacks/lunch boxes.
