Yeah, there are some as well as cultural references I didn't know at all.

I had to Google one today, largely because they use different names for spaces in the USA on a popular board game.

There were a few, like that one, that I worked out by looking at the next level clue and thinking about what would make sense in that context.

Yes - which is where I think that it works not letting you skip ahead. It's still useful to look ahead and let it help you with the ones you're looking at, rather than just giving you the points without you working those out.

I definitely want to be able to answer outer clues early, even if I have to go back for the inner clues.

I could like the game a lot, but its custom on-screen keyboard doesn't work well enough on my phone. The mental effort required to type the right letters exceeds the pleasure of playing. Until they fix it this will be a game for the devices with a real keyboard only.

I got stuck quite fast. And annoyed because I knew the final answer to one set of brackets.

I used the later answers that I could work out to reverse engineer the earlier answers. But not with 100% success.

Yeah, trying that. I think I need more than 2 options to work on when I'm stuck. I know this about me from other puzzles. The fewer the possibilities to move forward somehow, the worse I perform and the less I enjoy it. There seems for me to be a sweet spot of possible answer/solution restriction. "Anything goes" isn't ideal and I actually often perform very poorly when there's only one possible way forward and it's very restricted what it could be and I can't think of it. I guess I'm better at totally alternative ways/paths to achieve an aim than thinking of alternatives for just one element. Like describing a thing if I've forgotten (or don't know) a specific word, rather than thinking of alternative words that mean the same thing.
