I was only first in Edinburgh a few years ago, but since the kids snack on them too I've gone up the rankings...

That asterisk cries out for its footnote, though. Is Scotland somehow in need of clarification?

Apparently:

Ah. So they're not clarifying what counts as Scotland; they're clarifying which purchases count. I might have put that asterisk elsewhere. :-)

The implication is that some other people may have bought more frankfurters, but if so they were intending to use them as toilet tissue, bin bags, medicine or feminine products.
