Date: 2026-03-17 03:03 pm (UTC)It's really not useful to lie to yourself about your capabilities, particularly if you then use the results to go to war!

Date: 2026-03-17 04:12 pm (UTC)This Resource ... was blocked due to its Cross-Origin-Resource-Policy header (or lack thereof).
See https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Web/HTTP/Cross-Origin_Resource_Policy_(CORP)#
The issue is that the pictures are on https://instagram.fman4-2.fna.fbcdn.net not https://www.threads.com
and my firefox doesn't have a reason to trust that the pictures do what threads intended ...
[ I had to open the Web Developer tools to see the errors, but did manage to see the pictures, which are terribly small on my screen and scaled down, by looking in the Page Info. ]

Have you set it up to block things in an unusual way?

Date: 2026-03-17 06:20 pm (UTC)I've probably disabled cross-site images - I don't see them in the Guardian either.
IIUC they set an img-src (or default-src) Content-Security-Policy to allow images from other sites that they trust, but https://www.threads.com has done that ...
I was going to say I hadn't blocked things in an unusual way but perhaps I have ?

Date: 2026-03-17 06:25 pm (UTC)Yes, a great many sites use secondary sites to host their images. If you block that then you're not going to see lots of things.

Date: 2026-03-30 06:35 pm (UTC)I only have time to watch a few minutes of #3, but my intuition is that calling this a "lighting" plugin is misleading. The before-and-after screams out that the NVIDIA enhancements are basically saying, "what should this look like?" and answering that. It looks like a lot of the fine details are being altered to be more photorealistic.
(I have a friend who is somewhat involved with this stuff -- I should ask them about it.)

And while I think it makes the architecture look great I'm not a fan of the faces.
