Life with two children: Fun on the bus

Sophia: That's not the shape a head is!
Gideon: Yes it is! Heads are circles!
Sophia: No they aren't! *Wraps her hands around my head to demonstrate*
Gideon: *Also wraps his arms around my head to demonstrate his point*
The children: *Proceed to fight over my head and its precise shape*

Haha. I remember having to carry a furious K from preschool to an introductory Reception afternoon at the real school, when they had told her that morning that you steer a horse by pointing its head in the direction you want it to go. It must have been rather like that.

What was she furious about?

I don't ride. Horses are steered through pressure on their sides from your legs (as I understand it). Much of the skill of horsemanship involves not using the reins for anything but an emergency--the horse can be communicated without pulling on its poor mouth! The reins are to be held lightly and not tugged this way and that, because with a properly trained horse it's all about how the rider sits.

Not being allowed to stay at preschool. She was meant to be walking to the big school with her friends but refused to go, so they phoned me at work and I had to go and carry her. Over a dual-carriageway bridge and roundabout and into town. We were both a bit cross. And then my bike was in the wrong place and I didn't have any lunchtime left.

I don't know how the schools think you're going to manage half-day introduction sessions when you're at work somewhere else. It is all still predicated on families including wives.

Their conversations might be best described as "wide ranging". Or possibly "Completely random".
