I love the Murder Strut / "walk like the Winter Soldier" (for extra bonus points, be casually carrying an ice hockey stick).

Sometimes it's fun, but it's fucking exhausting to have to do it all the time, Also I really really hate that what this means is some poor minoritised woman ends up leaping out of my way when I can't turn it off fast enough.I shouldn't have to walk like I own the fucking planet for Some People* to show basic politeness.

*Not always men. I have seen Judge Business School undergraduates of all genders force people out of their pat.

I see that "murder" was an entirely appropriate tag for #2, but I can't help thinking that "walking gender advice" by itself would have been funnier for kind-of-almost making sense :-)

Used to do it in London railway stations. Most amusing.

Also men will trip over your feet on trains off you stick them out in front of you. Women do not.

I found DAG's case for legalizing assisted dying far more convincing than the usual debate club arguments that have been flying around. If the status quo is that nice middle class people who the courts find sympathetic and high status medical professionals get away with murdering people, then actually having a legal standard of when someone's life can be ended is arguably an improvement. I still don't like it, but many of the problems that could be associated with such a law are already present in practice and possibly wouldn't get much worse.

I actually feel conflicted about the walking thing. I benefit from the right-of-way instinctively given to typical-men. But I am annoyed when people higher up the implicit right-of-way scale do just walk right at you. But I feel like if I'm NOT giving way to them then I'll end up shouldering them out of the way which isn't what I want.

And I want to be *less* intimidating with average non-men pedestrians, so I can't just aim for "as intimidating walking as possible". I need to figure out, an *average* level of how intimidating people are and aim for that..?
