2). In 14 out of 15 examples, the headline is biased in favor of the Republicans (the remaining one is an obituary that by convention is not supposed to be critical of the deceased). If that were a random sample, one would think NYT is pro-Republican, while in reality it endorsed Harris as "the only patriotic choice for president".

My experience of the NYT as a former subscriber was that it is conservative, largely because it is business-focused. One can be both small r republican and believe in the Republican party and still believe that Trump would be an unpatriotic choice for president, given his previous behavior and his repeated announcements of how he's going to be a dictator (but just on the first day) and how you won't ever have to vote again if he is elected, and everyone in his campaign assuring their voters that the election will only have been valid if he wins.

Your description better matches The Wall Street Journal. NYT is not conservative, at least by US standards.

Yes there are nevertrumpers within the Republican party, but they are a small minority. Trump got nominated with a very wide margin.

I found the thread about NYT headlines somewhat hard to believe. But my search results seem to confirm it. The first page's headline is hardly better now: "Trump’s Remarks on Migrants Illustrate His Obsession With Genes".
