It took me thirty years to cease being ambivalent to the abuse I suffered at the hands of a teacher and to have the ability to be angry about it and then to find closure.

I'm glad you got there.

I had a resurgence of anger about my bullying when I got counselling in my 30s. It wasn't even what I was in there for, it just made me feel protective of my younger self.

The French often make wine in very large cans made of stainless steel.

Oh yes. I think that a lot of this is more about the intended experience than something a can would do to the taste of a drink.

I remember Jane telling me that when she was in Paris for a year at university she would get shocked looks for ordering coffee "to go". The intended experience for coffee was to sit at a table, enjoy the passers by, and slowly enjoy drinking it. Gulping it on the go meant you had gone badly wrong in life, and should go away and think about what you had done, rather than trying to rope in innocent waiters to your unnatural lifestyle. This feels similar to that.

I am Anglo-Saxon enough to think two things
1) It's my coffee / can of wine. I paid for it and I'll drink how I want to.
2) Fuck the French and all their works. They are French and they are aware of this.

Genuinely not convinced that drinking wine out of can as opposed to pouring wine from a can in to a glass is going to be a great experience. I think this about more patriotic and better drinks like beer or Australian wine.

I'm not sure that many people are convinced that it makes that big a difference. I'm certainly not. But I was amused and entertained.

I think if you are drinking something out of a can you're going to get a different interaction with your sense of smell which will effect your taste experience.
