Life with two kids: And neither one between us.

This morning Jane and I woke up just before 7 and no children at all had come through in the night.

Which makes it the first night since April 2018 that we've slept the whole night in the same bed with no children between us.

Operation "big boy bed" only started about a month ago, so I'm delighted it's gone so smoothly!

(I'm sure there'll be plenty of nights ahead where it's not the case, but it's a good start.)

I woke up to happy chuntering from a young man already halfway down the stairs to get a banana. Time for us to start keeping the gate shut at night.

He was up and organising his own breakfast! Why get in the way of success?

He'd have brought the banana back up and clobbered me with it when he couldn't open it, mostly.

So you could have just stayed in bed and waited for his triumphant return?

(I know that small children and stairs aren't a good combination.)

He's probably safer on the stairs than me, god help us! But the anticipation would have killed me.

I am 51. Jane is 45. Child #3 would be quite unlikely even without us having put in place anti-child technology!

When my youngest lies on my bed, it's fun for both of us. Of course, it's during the day and we're discussing a book or game or tv show. He's 33. :)
