Apparently, this Canadian is of "a certain generation of British person".

Deposit-free mortgages: Thank goodness for supports for people to be able to buy homes. In that context, though, I'm thinking about the history of the 2008 mortgage crisis.

It'll work if the affordability checks are properly performed, instead of waved-through in order to sell as many mortgages as possible.


The deposit requirement can be sidestepped safely in two ways: an indemnity insurance (expensive, but this was always bundled into loans worth more than 75% of a mortgaged residential property)...

...And a well-run arrears programme, in which the statutory 12-month 'standstill' is available, and a default management programme which ends in the property being sold with the borrower in residence, into the ownership (or shared ownership) of a social landlord.

That bike chase was impressive, but good grief the video was irritating with slow-motion every few seconds. That made me feel more travel-sick that the riding itself!
