Thanks to my lovely brother Hugh this cat is asleep on the top bunk with Sophia.

I bought 2.5m of wooden plank, we carried it home together, chopped a rug up, and then covered both the plank and the steps to give Jim a decent grip to climb up.

That looks pretty steep. Has he tested walking down it yet? I'm a bit surprised he can make it up the plank if he couldn't make it up those steps. Or is the plank more intended to make the downhill easier than the uphill?

He's just used the steps - which were too steep, before we put the carpet on, but now have enough grip that he can get up.

The plank is less steep than the steps, and also with the steps he has to go almost vertical because he's the same width as each step.

Well, good job! It looks good with the carpet matching on both sides.

Going up steps involves a little hopping, so the carpeted sloped plank, even if it seems steep, is much easier.

Jim must be very pleased to be restored to one of his important jobs!
