It seems very unlikely that I'm going to die of it but holy hell it's uncomfortable. It's basically the nastiest cold in the world without the comfort of knowing that in 4-5 days it'll be on the mend. But there are worse fates.

There are nearly always worse fates, no matter our current fate, so I tend not to find that terribly comforting.

I hope that it does clear in 4-5 days. Mine certainly did, so it's plausible. I'm sorry it's so horrible in the meantime.

It might. I had the booster vax the day before the positive test, which can’t actually be all that unusual but I’ve completely failed to find any meaningful data on whether / when it might help me.

I'm not sure if it will help you, but I strongly suspect that your body will be reacting to both the virus and the vaccine at the same time, which will probably feel very uncomfortable. I hope that the reaction fades pretty quickly.

It ought to help me eventually if it gives me antibodies, oughtn't it? I mean, IANA virologist but I'd have thought they'd kick in at some point. But it's surprisingly difficult to find source data on what I'd have thought wasn't an uncommon situation.

Oh yes, definitely helpful in the long run. Not sure you'll develop the immunity in time for this one, but future ones will definitely be less bad because of this.

I suppose it depends how long this one lasts!

The latest research implies that booster effectivity is in the 4-5 month range, when the hope was that it would be closer to 8-12 months so that it could be slotted into 'annual flu shot' reminders.
