Dear Fate, I would like a pony, and also the following:
Johnson is made Prime Minister again, and then the investigation (due 26th of November) finds that he lied to The House Of Commons, he's excluded for 14 days, leading to a recall, and he loses his seat.

Date: 2022-10-22 03:57 pm (UTC)I've been trying to find out how the Conservative Party is selecting its leader this time. If they're taking only a week, surely it's a MPs-only vote? But no, apparently they're still going to request postal votes from the party membership. Last time that required the election to take months, but this time they think they can do it in only a week. Color me dubious ...
But anyway, knowing that membership: if Boris is a candidate on the ballot, he'll win. Nobody else can stand him, but they love him. And there we are.
Sunak would surely be a better PM, but the party membership doesn't seem to like him, or he'd have won over Truss. The analyses of that outcome suggested he didn't pander to the insane right as much as Truss did, but there's another factor I fear played a role here among that constituency, which is: don't tell anybody, but Sunak is, y'know, ethnic.
