Date: 2003-09-12 12:58 pm (UTC)I suppose it only makes sense, prior to the Victorian era, spelling was far from regularized and people could still read w/o problem. I'd imagine that random spelling would confuse poor and new readers more, but otherwise it honestly does seem to make little difference.
