Great move by California. Much better than setting price caps (especially if govt is subsidizing costs).

Yup. I'd be as happy with them using a bidding system to get some made cheaply, but doing it themselves works too.

It's sad to see that so much insulin is needed. Maybe the next step could be spending on reasearch into Type II diabetes prevention, and also trying to help people avoid it. Funding for relieving poverty might be a start! Esp for reducing stress, also affordable access to decent healthy food and exercise possibilities.
