UEFA Drinks

Date: 2021-06-21 10:05 am (UTC)For the tennis players the 4 Majors represent their job. The prize money and the sponsorship and advertising income they derive indirectly from playing in those tournaments is, I am guessing, the bulk of their income.
For the very top tier of footballers, your Ronaldos and what not, appering in the Euros might be closer to a labour of love. The starting eleven for any of the clubs playing in the Champions League will be getting most of their money from club salary and endorsements linked to their fame as a club player (I guess).
And again different for the more run-of-the-mill players who will get a boost to their fame from being in the Euros.
Do the Euros need Ronaldo more than he needs them? I think the Euros would like to not find out.

Date: 2021-06-21 10:36 am (UTC)I can see fans being supportive of Ronaldo in case 1.
And I think in case 1 Ronaldo could plausibly say he's not too good for the Euros but he is too good to be bullied by a bunch of beer and soda companies.
