I'd heard about the nitric acid from sunlight thing because it also affects the risk of heart attacks. Vitamin D is *not* a substitute. UV lamps might well be, but I haven't heard about them being used.

If that crate article isn't an elaborate pen testing scheme by the Australian Government's immmigration office I shall be disappointed.

The comments section for the story was worth reading. One comment directed the reader to the April 9th Sydney Morning Herald story commenting about the crate story of April 7, with the added information that the whole escapade was unnecessary.

Robson had a run-in with the authorities, had served a brief jail time and the news story dredged up from 1965 states the lad would have been deported at no cost to him. Of course, he disappeared before that could happen.
