I used to budget extra time for the walk to and from kindergarten so that the flowers at the front of people's yards could be inspected and we could agree among ourselves that indeed we're not supposed to be plucking them.

There's certainly a lot of "I know that garden is full of small stones that would be great to make little piles out of, but..."

A couple of years later, an unusually heavy bookbag turned out to contain a pretty landscaping rock from the school grounds.
