Wow. She was really lucky there weren't any complications!

(Also, this may be of interest to you: not everyone ever gets to contractions a minute apart. With both of ours, had we listened to the 'only show up at the hospital once contractions are regular and 3 minutes apart' advice, they would have been born at home.

"What is it that makes large companies think they don't need to pay artists to use their work?"

Actually, the article says that all sorts of people steal art, it's just that Old Navy is being intransigent about it.

The annoying thing about stuff like “devolving social security will create 1,900 jobs in Scotland” is that it doesn't say how many jobs in England and Wales will be lost as a result.

If you buy the headline as warranted by the article, you should also add "and will make you significantly more miserable about your life". :)

I wasn't surprised to hear that the participants in the no-Facebook condition predicted it would be miserable. I was disappointed, and slightly surprised, to find that their self-reported life satisfaction did go down. When I've taken a social media break I've usually felt happier at the end ... although still decide to go back to it. I recently started to seriously consider just giving up on Fb and make more effort to socialise elsewhere - but then swiftly realised there were both work-related and kids-school-related things I would have to keep asking other people to update me about, which seemed unfair and unreliable.
