CO2 levels in the atmosphere were continuing to rise at a steady rate over the past four years, breaking the 400ppm barrier (as measured at Mauna Loa, one of the longest time-base CO2 measurement stations operating) a little while ago. Not really surprising since humans have been burning ever more natural gas and pretending that somehow it's "green" because it isn't quite as CO2-emitting as coal.
