[Poll #160223]

Edit: If you're putting in "something else" how about an explanation?

Something else: A combination of fate, and free will. I (sometimes) believe 'choices' are fated for us, I believe we still have free will over which choice to make.

Like that. I don't always believe it though. There does seem to be an inevitability about certain things in life.

This is the sort of thing I used to spend loads of time thinking about as a teen. I don't care so much now - as long as I'm happy, I don't care whether my life is fated, or whether I have free will over everything.

I firmly believe though, for example, that Connor was meant to be. He is part of my fate, something that I had to do.

Well, I think I'm equating fate and predestination as the same thing. I think they are the same thing. It's as easy for me to say that Connor was 'fated' as it is to say he was 'predestined'. Put it this way - I don't think there was anything 'mystical' as such surrounding his conception. I just think he was meant to be. I *feel* that I've played a small part in something far bigger.

I've always though 'supernatural' was an oxymoron. If something exists, then it must exist within nature. Similarly, things attributed to mysticism, although not necessarily explicable by our current scientific standards, must be based in some form of science. Everything has laws, rules.

I believe in justice, I believe in vengeance, I believe in getting the bastards.

I picked all of them. I wrote a long journal entry some time ago, about my thoughts on fate, and I'd love to link to it, if I could only find the blasted thing. Which I can't. Why in God's name doesn't LJ have a search option? *frustrated*

It's crazy, especially since I don't think it's that difficult to find a good, free search program to install into the site....

In the words of Sadé,

I believe in the power of creation
I believe in the good vibration
I believe in love alone
yeah

Belief is a collar

I believe in all and none of the above.

Belief is something I try to avoid. Ideas... now. That's the ticket.

I chose both fate and free will. I've now entered several different theories as to why this might be, but end up deleting them all. Damn you and your thought provocation Ducker!!
