Mood Food

Still recovering from last week. Here's a quick illustration of how much my mood is food-affected:

I felt tired all morning. Head feels stuffy and my mind isn't really working.

I had beef and vegetables (onions, carrots and lentils) for lunch. No change in mood, and I still felt out of it. I wanted to snack a lot, so I picked up some cold meat and snacked on that.

Stephen popped out at 2:15 to Sainsburies, so I went with him to get some air. I picked up a Scotch egg, which I'm allowed the occasional one of (it's got about 8g of carbs in it).

30 minutes later I'm feeling much more awake, my brain is running and I'm even being vaguely productive.

That's how sensitive I've become to carbohydrates.

You know those people who shouldn't eat sugary things, or drink caffeine, because they bounce off the walls? I've become one of them. No tolerance left at all.

doesn't sound like that diet is doing much for your mood/energy honey.

or was that day just unusual?

It's hard for me to comprehend how anyone could eat an entire Scotch Egg and not immediately die of some massive coronary or cerebrovascular explosion. You guys over there must have arteries made of vanadium steel.

Ooooohhhh... I love Scotch Eggs! Man, those things are addictive. One of our local pubs has just started carrying them on the menu. :) Yummmmm....

I wish! If I don't drink coffee for months then the first couple maybe keep me perky if I'm not totally knackered. Sugar/carbs don't give me a lift, but I do seem to get a wee bit of a craving going, so maybe it does affect my mood if not my energy. Sigh.

Sean never develops a tolerance to caffeine. I told him today that he was a lucky basatrd having a drug that had a good effect, was pretty harmless, available everywhere and dirt cheap. He had a cappuchino at 4pm yesterday and was still flying at 1am (I have no idea when he went to bed). Come to think of it, he's a sugar freak as well.

I need industrial strength drugs to perk me up to that degree and it's not fair goddammit!
