I have a friend who's a big Stephen Baxter fan, particularly with the way his stories involve very long timescales and seem to have a habit of ending up millions of years in the future when the universe is a tad different.

Anyone care to recommend any books which are similarly massive in scope, or interesting in similar ways?

I'm assuming Stross~Accelerando is covered already given your interests. Reynolds? His Revelation Space universe covers massive peroids of time, as does, um, the one I read recently about the family line that explores the galaxy every rotation the name of which I forget.

Beyond that, I would be curious to see what else is out there.
