Date: 2013-10-31 11:13 am (UTC)Add to that, battery life is radically reduced if you switch the same receiver from FM to DAB, internet radio is coming up in popularity and many many people keep the same radio for years if not decades—I still have the sterio I won on Blockbusters when I was 17, and as it's still a damn fine stereo and better than what I could afford to buy to replace it, I'm keeping it, etc.
I've had several phones (the Nokias and before that the Sony/Ericssons) that had FM receivers as standard, none had DAB-partially as it's not an international standard the way FM is, economies of scale don't happen, etc.
Jennie's stereo, with DAB, is in the kitchen and it's great to be able to use it, but I default to FM whenever possible for a channel, and the much newer AV box for the living room has FM, but not DAB.
